ELIZABETH (LIBBY) CHENEY is Vice President of Safety, Environment and Sustainable Development for Shell Upstream Americas. In addition, her responsibilities include managing Social Performance and Regulatory Policy for Shell’s oil and natural gas exploration and production activities across North, Central, and South America.

Libby began her career as a Reservoir Engineer with Exxon in Kingsville, Texas. Her background includes a variety of technical assignments and management of multi-functional teams for producing assets from offshore Gulf of Mexico to West Texas and California. Libby subsequently managed field operations and led an organization of engineers and technicians in developing and optimizing onshore US producing assets. In addition, she was a Technical Manager for major global development projects.

Libby holds Board positions with the North America Carbon Capture and Storage Association (NACCSA), the US and Texas Oil and Gas Associations, the Graham Environmental Sustainability Institute at the University of Michigan, the Offshore Energy Center, and the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
